Apollo Market @ Raja Uda 拉惹乌达,Butterworth

Walla~ My first post for my Penang first food hunting trip! We were so lucky to have one of my uni's friends to bring us around the mainland of Penang for food hunting before we cross the Penang bridge to the island. It was my first time actually to really visit the mainland. Before this I would never bother and would just cross over to the island.
Chao Lo Bak Gou/ 炒萝卜糕 @ Apollo Market
At first my friend brought us to this place known as Apollo Market by the local people. It is situated along side with Raja Uda Street. As told by my friend, Raja Uda Street is super crowded during the 9th emperor/ 九王爷 week. We miss it by just a week. Damn~ Anyway there is always next time. =) These were the few food that you should try if you plan to come to Apollo Market: Chao Lo Bak Gou/炒萝卜糕, Muah chee/ 麻糍, Wu Zha Gue/油炸鬼, Ham Chin Peng. For the Chao Lo Bak Gou, I would say it is better than those you can get in KL. The taste is better and it is rather brighter in colour because of lesser soy sauce.

Wu Zha Gue/油炸鬼, Ham Chin Peng

The wu zha gue and the ham chin peng is a must try here. You can locate the stall quite easily, just look for the stall with longest queue and you will find it. It is served hot and on the first bite on the ham chin peng you can feel the crunch of its skin. The filling of dou sha/豆沙 inside the ham chin peng is generous as well and of course it is HOT!
Apollo Market, Butterworth
Apollo Market is just situated beside the main road and easy to be spotted. There are a lot of other food stalls in the Apollo Market, Raja Uda. If you are not a big fans of those food that I mentioned, there is always other food such as char kuey teow, which is famous in penang! =)

Long Khee Restaurant/ 隆记咖喱鱼头 @ SS15, Subang Jaya

咖喱鱼头/ Fish Head Curry
Fish head curry! Anyone? The last time I tried fish head curry was about 2 years ago. Besides, I am a huge fan of curry so Long Khee's fish head curry is a must try for me. According to my friend, this is one of the famous fish head curry in Subang Area. Personally, I think that the curry is good enough but not spicy enough for spicy food lover like me. =) Another thing is that the fish portion in the curry is kinda 'kiam siap'/ stingy. Hope they can improve on that. Overall, it is still good. Recommended!
招牌豆腐/ Famous Tofu
This is Long Khee's famous Tofu. The tofu is first fried and then steamed along with carrot slices, mushrooms, baby prawns and a few slices of veges. I believe the tofu is home-made and it is so soft and smooth within the first bite. The taste is awesome. Rather than ordering the usual claypot tofu, try this!
妈密鸡/ Marmite Chicken
A little bit different this time. Rather than order the usual 'gou lou yok', lemon chicken or thai style chicken, we want to try the marmite chicken from Long Khee. Fortunately, it turns out better than my expectation. The portion is quite generous and the taste is good. Unlike some restaurants that serve meatless, mostly bone and skin chicken, Long Khee serve succulent chicken!
清炒油麦菜/ Fried Lettuce
My girl's favourite vege of all time, Lettuce. It is normally served along with 肉骨茶/'Bah Ku Teh'. Overall, the lettuce is crunchy and brings along some sweet vege taste. Simple and healthy. Recommended!

Big Hug Burger @ Subang Square, SS15

Greeting from the big bears
There have been many burger joints that appear around Klang valley in recent months. This is one of them, 'Big Hug Burger' that just started their business early this year. Once you enter the store, there will be BIG greetings from the big teddy bears lying on the couches. Too bad there are only four couches available and most of the time they are occupied while the other seats are wooden seats.
Special Wall Design & Decoration
I have to admit that Big Hug Burger does have the nicest decoration & design among all the burger joints so far. Other than just the design, the owner places some funky hair bands and specs so that customers can take pictures with them to create good memories. =) This is definitely a place for the youngsters to hangout and it is within the walking distance from Taylors and INTI Colleges.
Beef Grilled Burger (RM 15.00)
The bamboo charcoal bun beef burger features a grilled beef patty, roasted cherry tomatoes, caramelised onion, mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, gherkins and fresh lettuce. This is my first time trying the bamboo charcoal bun and I am totally in love with it. It is rather resilient compared to other buns and carry a slight sweet taste.
Beef Grilled Burger
The idea of mixing roasted cherry tomatoes in the burger is just great. Unlike the normal tomatoes, cherry tomatoes carry some sweetening taste and together with the thick, properly grilled beef patty, it makes the bite more satisfying. Yummy~~~~~
