HUEN KEE Claypot Chicken Rice/禤记瓦煲鸡饭 @ Jalan Yew, Pudu

传统炭烧瓦煲鸡饭/ Traditional Claypot Chicken Rice (medium portion)

Here we are at the Restaurant Heun Kee Claypot Chicken Rice!! Not to mention anymore, definately the famous dish here is the traditional claypot chicken rice as shown in the picture above. With the chicken marinated with special secret recipe sauce originated from the owner of the restaurant, it has attracted many of the overseas tourists to visit the restaurant. Unlike many claypot chicken rice that are offered by other stalls in the hawker centre, the chicken portion offered in Huen Kee restaurant are way more generous! Besides, the special sauce, bacon sausage hidden inside (or known as 腊肉肠 in chinese)  and the well-cooked rice are believed to be the 'special weapon' to the tasty claypot chicken rice. =) Highly recommended for those who loves claypot chicken rice and please do leave some comment after you have tried! =)

Huen Kee Claypot Chicken Rice Restaurant
Huen Kee Claypot chicken rice restaurant is located along Jalan Yew. However, I find it difficult to locate the restaurant as the restaurant is facing a flyover bridge which almost block the whole shop. A better way is to look for the rows of charcoal stove (If i pronounce correctly) situated outside of the restaurant or look for the signboard which state ' Huen Kee Claypot Chicken Rice'. =) Hope this will help!

Few rows of charcoal stoves used to serve the increasing number of customers.
There are actually 2 huge fans used to fan the charcoal in the stoves to ensure the continuation burning and heating on the claypots. @_@ However, something interesting caught my attention. Most of the stalls only heat the claypot from the bottom stove but in Huen Kee restaurant, they actually heat the claypot from the top cover as well. I was told that by using this method, the claypot will be heated more evenly and the chicken rice can be well-cooked within a shorter period. (No wonder the thick chicken meat can be cooked well within 20 minutes time) =)
The top part of the claypot is heated with charcoal as well ( Smart way!)
腊味饭/ Preserved meat rice (small portion)
Other than the claypot chicken rice, we also order the preserved meat rice to try out. I believe that most people would love claypot chicken rice more compared to preserved meat rice. As you can see from the picture above, the rice came with almost no sauce and it is rather less tasty. However, for those who love the strong taste of the bacon sausage/ 腊肉肠, it is highly recommended for you. Other than the normal bacon sausage, there is also a mixture of  sausage which is made from foie gras/鸭肝 which I personally don't really like. =(

Preserved meat rice (small portion) + claypot chicken rice (medium portion) + 3 drinks (RM42 for 3 persons)
That's all that we ordered and honestly three of us are quite full and satisfied! Other than the 2 dishes that we ordered, Huen Kee restaurant also offers some other dishes such as vegetables, toufu, etc. We haven't try the other dishes so we will definately be back here again!! Stay Tuned!! Trust me the claypot chicken rice is worth a try! (even my queen love it so much!! =) )
